Weekend Review

This week was somewhat of a low key week for me. I tried to catch up on some sleep so I didn’t do much during the day except for watching college and pro football.

I attended the St Louis art festival in Clayton on Friday night. It was my first time there. I was really impressed with the size of the festival and the amount of people there. I saw a lot of interesting paintings. I was a little disappointed with the lack of interesting metal art which is one of my recent obsessions. I saw much more interesting metal wall art at the art show in Breckenridge, CO the previous week.

I ended out my Friday night going to Morgan St. Brewery. Going to the Landing is not one of my favorite things but the group wanted to go and I am a “team player.” The experience was not too bad and it was cut short when the main block on the Landing lost power around 1:45 in the morning. We concluded the night with a stop at my favorite late night eatery, Maurizios.

I had the group over for the Mizzou game vs SEMO plus some late night Rock Band (my neighbors must love me.) The football game was everything I expected except for the fact that MU didn’t score 100 points like I predicted. They probably would have if the starters would have played the second half. Blaine Gabbert made his MU debut as quarterback. I am glad he did because he didn’t seem too stellar. He is going to have a lot riding on his shoulders next year as the starting QB so it was good to see some late action. I would assume that he will probably get some playing time against Nevada and Buffalo in the upcoming weeks.

I did regretfully watch the Rams game on Sunday. In case you didn’t watch, they lost 38 to 3 to a Philly team that doesn’t even have their top two wide receivers playing. I am not sure if Tye Hill could even guard me. My fantasy football team also tanked. I really don’t have a good team. The one good thing is that I have the #1 waiver priority so I can pick up all the replacement for the people that were hurt like Tom Brady’s replacement. The Card’s also won their series but did not really gain any ground since the Brew Crew also won their series. A sweep by the Cubs this week will probably end their misery.

I ended out the night watching the season premiere of Entourage and the series debut of True Blood on HBO. Entourage was good like always but I am not sure about True Blood. I will have to give it a couple more episodes before I make my final decision. The one good thing about the end of summer is all the new and returning TV shows. Everyone knows I love TV. I can’t wait for the series premier of Fringe on Tuesday.

Colorado in August

Jumping off a cliff

I recently went to Breckenridge Colorado for a wedding. I really didn’t know what to think. I wasn’t too pleased at first to be leaving a good Labor Day weekend in the STL to go to a cold weekend in Colorado. I surprisingly had a good time even though I had a constant headache for 4 straight days due to elevation sickness. We went “white water” rafting on the Colorado river the first day. It was pretty cool. The views were amazing. The picture above was me jumping off a 30ft cliff into 50 degree water. I immediately lost feeling in my body when I hit the water. See my Flikr page for the rest of the photos. The second day we went moutain biking. It was probably one of the hardest, most dangerous, and most thrilling things I have ever done. First, we were dropped off at about the 9000 ft mark on a moutain. We then made a 3000 ft elevation climb that took us about 5 hours. The pain of going up hill was defintely worth the downhill fun. We then went down a winding trail full of rocks, stumps, and alot of bends. It was pretty intense. One bad move and you could end up flying off a cliff, hitting a tree, or flipping off your bike. See my brother … he ended up breaking his arm. The wedding was too bad either.

Welcome to my blog…

I am trying out this whole blogging experience for the first time. You will have to wait and see if I follow through with it but I feel like I have a lot to say.
