Weekend Wrapup

MU beats Nebraska

First off, I hope that Mizzou’s dominance over Nebraska quieted the critics. MU seemed to score at will thus did not even need to punt once. The first team defense only allowed 10 points. 7 of Nebraska’s points came on the first drive so MU’s defense basically shut them out after that. Chase looked good as always. I really like the pass he through to Maclin in the endzone between two Nebraska players.

In other sporting news, the Cubs got swept just like last year in the first round of the postseason. Why do they even try anymore? The Brewers lost in 4 which was sorta expected since they fell apart in the last month. The Rams actually did not lose a game but that is because they didn’t play. They probably lost in their head though. Maybe they will turn it around and compete in the very weak NFC West division.

On Friday, I went to the Dubliner with a friend to see Merge. I saw them before at Adstock. I went with a friend that works with some of the people in the band. The band is quite entertaining so I had a really good time. They played Livin on a Prayer so that made it even better. I also went to Sen Thai Bistro. I had the pineapple fried rice dish. It was very good. The portions were huge for the price. I only ate about half of the dish. I will defintely be going back.

I had the group over to watch the game on Saturday. We somehow didn’t play one game of Rock Band 2 which I didn’t think was possible with having the Rengler in attendance. I played about 5 hours already that day so it wasn’t a big deal. Do they not show any good college football games during the day anymore? I did skip my my 10 year high school reunion that night too. I don’t really talk to anyone from high school, but I do sorta regret that I didn’t go. I saw some picture posted on facebook. It looks like there was a lot of people there.

On Sunday, I was supposed to work on my papers, but did not have the motivation. Instead, I will need to work on them Monday and Tuesday night. I did watch a couple of the football games before I got bored with them and decided to watch the Assassination of Jesse James. The movie was very long and seemed to be slow in the beginning, but picked up steam at the end. It is a weird kind of movie that I would not expect a lot of people to like. I did enjoy it, but will probably never watch it again. I did not know much about Jesse James so I liked the historical aspect more than the movie itself. I also got in my normal Sunday night TV watching. True Blood was pretty good. It now seems that Bill Compton can also hear other people’s thoughts. Not sure if he took this ability from Sookie in the blood exchange episode or he always had it. In other news, it seems like Sam Merlotte struck again killing Sookie’s grandmother. Why can’t Sookie hear Sam’s thoughts since he seems to be on a murderous rampage. I know she tries to block out reading her friend’s thoughts but she is bound to “hear” him thinking about killing all those people. I also watched Californication, Entourage, Family Guy, and the Simpsons. Family Guy was great like always. That shows seems to be getting funnier.

Bad Protein Mix

I am on the “Hoff diet” so I am drinking a protein shake every morning for breakfast. Since I took over a year off from working out, I was left with a lot of containers of protein mix. I am down to my final one, but I noticed yesterday that it expired last month. I did my first heavy workout in a couple months on Tuesday; chest and shoulders. My arms hurt more than they have ever hurt before. My triceps are so sore that I have trouble resting them on my desk when I type. Could this be from the protein or did I just do a killer workout Tuesday without even knowing it?

2008 VP Debate Analysis

2008 VP Debate in St Louis

I watched my first and possibly last political debate (or at least parts of it). I watched the first 30 minutes then got extremely bored with it. I was not a big fan of the political cat fight that was going on where they were playing the he said, she said game. I would have thought the debate would be more of an avenue to get their current political views than trying to smear their opponents with their views and past votes, but I guess it is a debate. And this is the first time I have ever even followed politics since I am a recently new registered voter. I guess I thought it was time.

I also watched a bit of the analysis. On NBC, the first reporter said it was a successful debate, but would probably be forgotten in the next 24 hours because there were no problems. I totally disagreed with that and so did Tom Brokaw. I also didn’t agree with the statement that this debate would have no impact on the presidential decision which was the stark opposite of what the media was reporting before the debate. I disagree with this statement because I think it did help me make my decision. I thought Palin looked pretty good up there. I think she might be the “down to Earth” person we need in the White House.

What does everyone else think?

New “Mike Tyson’s” Punchout for Wii

This post is for the Rengler. Supposedly, Nintendo announced today that they are going to release a Punch Out for the Wii in 2009. Is this the game that will push you over the edge to finally buy a new generation gaming counsel? You can still get Madden and Guitar Hero/Rock Band for Wii too. I think you played the original Mike Tyson for over a year during your big flash game kick while we lived at Waterman. I think we all know the story of you and your friends playing this game nonstop on Nintendo when it originally came out. What do you think?

This week on TV

I am not sure if I have ever watched this much TV in my adult life so I am little amazed. I have watched TV so much in the past two weeks that I could probably have a daily blog on TV shows and movies. My new harddrive for my Moxi box has really paid its dividends. I calculated that I have about 75 hours of HD recording capacity.

There was so many shows on Sunday night, sometimes 3 shows at once so my Moxi scheduled to record some HBO shows throughout the night. I got a chance to watch Little Britain USA and the Life and Times of Tim on Monday. I was not really impressed with either. I already stopped Little Britain from recording. I will give Tim a couple more tries. I really am not sure why we keep bringing over shows from Britain. First is was the Office. I haven’t watched either versions but everyone tells me that the UK version is better. The US version has been very successful so it somewhat debunks my theory. Little Britain and Secret Diary of a Cal Girl are two shows which I don’t expect to make the cut. I am not sure how you could mess up a show about a call girl but I somehow could not stay interested. Everyone knows that Brits have a different sense of humor than most.

I was really excited to watch Dirty, Sexy, Money since it’s season ended abruptly last year due to the writers strike. It wasn’t bad after watching it, but it lost some of its allure to me. One thing I did like Natalie Zea’s new look. I couldn’t stop looking at her eyes. They had to be the hottest set of eyes I have ever seen on a woman. I also was glad to see that Eli Stone is coming back in a couple weeks.

All the normal shows were good too. The ones that stood out for me are Californication, Dexter, and Worst Week. I missed the season premier of Worst Week so this was my first even though it was really the second episode. I thought it was pretty funny but I don’t expect it to last long since I have read a lot of bad reviews. It was good to see new episodes of Californication even though their episodes are very much like Entorage since they don’t really have a plot line. It is basically like they are stealing Seinfeld’s plotline of a show about nothing.

I have also watched a lot more college football than I ever have before. I think it is the combination of HD and MU being ranked so high.

You would think that I wouldn’t have time for all of this TV watching since I have a full time job and I am taking 9 hours of school semester. I guess the fact that I really don’t sleep helps out. I probably won’t watch any baseball playoff games. All I care is that the Cubs lose.
